Cento paia di buoi non avrebbero tratto fuori detto anello e le pietre dove era infisso erano murate con calce stabile e ferma”. La deposizione di un testimone oculare descrive così il miracolo avvenuto sul ponte di San Bartolomeo il Giovedì Santo del 1529, quando al passaggio del Santissimo Crocifisso, la catena di ferro che ne ostacolava il transito si spezzò e si staccò dal muro, trascinando con sé una gran quantità di pietre.
A cinque secoli di distanza, la città di Como continua a conservare le tracce di quel prodigio. Segni tangibili, nel vero senso della parola, come l’anello cui era attaccata la catena del miracolo, oggi esposto all’esterno della chiesa di San Bartolomeo, in via Milano. Situato sullo spigolo destro della facciata, è incastonato in una lapide di granito che ricorda il prodigio e recita: “Anellone del miracolo del SS. Crocifisso Giovedì Santo 1529”.
Appartenuto ai fratelli Terraneo e poi a un tale Desiderio Cairoli, l’anellone venne ceduto nel 1848 al fabbriciere di San Bartolomeo. Nel 1916, il Comune diede l’autorizzazione per sistemarlo all’esterno della chiesa e quando nel 1929 venne inaugurata la nuova facciata – in occasione del quarto centenario dal miracolo – l’anellone trovò posto in quella che è l’attuale collocazione.
Pochi passi più in là, murata nel chiostrino della chiesa, una lapide in marmo di Varenna ricorda l’intera vicenda anche se, forse, non ce ne sarebbe bisogno. Nonostante il passare dei secoli, infatti, ancora oggi, ogni giorno, molti comaschi che passano da via Milano non possono fare a meno di fermarsi per un istante e avvicinarsi all’anellone per toccarlo, prima di allontanarsi facendo il segno della croce.Non dimenticate una visita alla bella chiesa di S.
