Geocache Description:

Park and grab, but you're welcome to stay for a bit, bring a pen.

Welcome to Michael's Landing, a place honoring the first settler in Judique, Michael MacDonald.  Here you'll find a cairn commemorating his original land grant.  This is also an access point for the Rails to Trails of the Trans Canada Trail, locally known as the Judique Flyer Trail, named after a steam engine that once ran the line.  Feel free to take a walk, ride a bike or even use motorized off raod vehicles, or if you happen to have a horse with you, they're allowed too.

As you look out over the ponds to the ocean, at the north end (right hand side facinig the ocean) is Indian Point, once a summer home to Native peoples, an excavation took place in the 70's and many artifacts were found supporting this.  These wetlands support many varieties of wildlife, including Heron, Canada Geese and Bald Eagles.  Eeling was once as common on these ponds in winter as hockey was, but with a shift in the tidal bore opening from the north end to the central location you can see now, the ice conditions do not get to what they once did.  Take  the time to read the information boards, there's lots to learn here, even though most would never realize it.
