Geocache Description:

Another new cache container to replace the original large container (GC5T68C) that was situated near this site and was muggled. This letterbox/hybrid cache celebrates all the diverse invertebrates that we have in New Zealand and is also a tribute cache to Wellington geocaching legends - the huhugrubs. Replace exactly as found to keep the muggles away.

Huhugrubs are the larvae of the huhu beetle, an endemic long-horned beetle and New Zealand's largest beetle species. The eggs are laid in decaying timber and the larvae eat the rotting wood for 2-3 years before pupating for a few weeks, then emerging as flying adults. The original cache was placed close to an object of decay. The new cache is where the emerged adults might be found on a summers evening.

The huhugrub team are well known to Wellington cachers through their frequent "first to finds" of many a tricky puzzle plus other cache types.  We all know when they are out of town as the newly published caches remain unfound a wee bit longer. They are also very nice helpful cachers with a sunny and colourful personality. I hope they enjoy this replacement cache.

The following section is shamelessly copied from Boxhills AKL letterbox hybrid text with a few minor edits...

"To conform with the rules of both Letterboxing and Geocaching the cache contains two logbooks, one for Geocachers to sign, and a stamp logbook and signature stamp and/or stickers for Letterboxers. [Apologies, the stamp log book was unusable and I did not have a replacement logbook on me. Will need to drop in one next visit. Meantime use the spare paper in other logbook] Please feel free to bring your own personal stamp and make an entry in the stamp log book.

Please do not remove the signature stamp or stickers as they are not swappable items.

Please NOTE that you must sign the logsheet for each individual Geocacher. Finds logged not corresponding with the logbook may be deleted.

Please take some time before leaving to ensure that the lid of the cache is properly clipped back in place and that it is re-hidden exactly as you found it."
