In the 1960's the Lake was used by the Canberra Yacht Club for sailing and even had a shore line and lapping waves. Whilst the Lake George area is better known for the elusive water, the ever present Capital Wind Farm dominates the Bungendore side of the landscape. 67 wind turbines tower above the lake and surrounding farm land. Sheep and cows as well as native flora and fauna share the land with the turbines. The elements of Lake George are a unique combination of man and nature with a splash of mystery.
