Geocache Description:

Lake Road offers great views of Lake George, the wind farm and the escarpment. It is mainly a dirt road and can be tricky to navigate after heavy rain. There is a spot to pull over here near a couple of gates. The cache is a small container with another container inserted - please just pop the lid to access the log book. Room for small swaps.

Lake George Feral Animal Problem

Rabbits, foxes, wild dogs and feral pigs continue to be the main pest animals in Palerang Council Area, although feral cats, wild deer and feral goats are also present. In Australia there are approximately 23 million feral pigs (2011) and usually there are more feral pigs than people in the nation. There are pigs in the area though they do prefer wooded areas. Evidence of feral pigs includes fresh digging or rooting of the ground, tracks and faeces, mud or hair at holes in fences, wallows, tusk marking and mud rubs on trees and fence posts, and nests in vegetation made by sows before farrowing. If you go walking the Palerang hills you will see evidence of pigs and the damage they do. Luckily, feral pigs are generally nocturnal, spending daylight hours sheltering in dense cover.
