Geocache Description:

In the Fourth Street Park in Old Town, this cache takes you to a bit of local history that you may not have known existed.  With a large parking lot and public boat landing, this can be a quick park and grab or you can spend a little more time exploring the trails or paddling the waters of the Penobscot.

This geocache is at the end of Fourth Street, in the heart of Fourth Street Park. With a historic GZ near the shore of the Penobscot, it stimulates the mind with the beauty of the past and present. It provides the opportunity to reflect on history and think about how Old Town was different when steam engines chugged along the rails that are now trails. You may wonder how this iron pillar has changed since it was first erected and how Old Town has changed too. You can see the top of this structure from a distance but as you get closer to GZ, you may consider looking lower. This magnetic nano awaits your discovery.
