Geocache Description:

The route to this cache is part of a canoe portage between Little Bateau Lake and Black Oak Lake. It is suggested that you park on the north side of the road next to the split rail fence.

Anyone who has studied old maps of the Wisconsin Northwoods has probably noticed that lakes have a habit of changing names. Little Bateau Lake and its brother to the north, Big Bateau Lake, have had a variety of names. Most locals still refer to them as Big and Little Bass Lakes. This name is fitting because they are excellent fishing spot for both small mouth and large mouth bass.

To the west you will find Lake Elaine which has been Lonewood Lake and before that Emil Lake.

This cache has been placed with the permission of the property owner.
