Welcome to the Sweet Pioneer Cemetery Cache.

Please be respectful while you visit this beautiful, peaceful and not known of place.

The Cache should be pretty easy to find.
The trek to the Cache will be easier or more difficult depending on the season that you choose to find it.
You will be looking for a nice camouflaged bison container.

There are only TWO interments located in this very small cemetery.
They are:
William Sweet

Birth: 1807
Death: Dec. 18, 1862
Jones County
Iowa, USA

Went to Michigan at the age of 19, then to Indiana and Illinois.
Settled in Whiteside County came to Iowa in 1837, to Cedar County.
In 1837 to Jones County and settled at Rome.
Engaged in the manufacture of brick, making the first in the county!
In 1850 he moved to Hale and entered and now owns 160 acres of land.
He made all the improvements.
His wife, Jane Blackmer, was born in New York in 1818, and came to Michigan at the age of 9 years.
Was married in Michigan and have had twelve children.
Sophia, Martha, Mirah, Leonard, William, Adeline, Nathaniel, Irena, Lorena (died September 18, 1855), Lenora (died March 18, 1860), Milton L. (died August 16, 1864), Mary L. (died December 23, 1852).
Mrs. Sweet helped to make the first flag raised in the town of Rome in 1841, and is one of the pioneers of Jones County.
