November is a month to give thanks: for family, for friends, for fellowship, and of course, for geocaching. Before we kick off the holiday season, let's get together to celebrate our community and the joy (and frustrations) that come with finding caches, solving puzzles, and earning smileys. In honor of the holiday spirit, there will be door prizes and a small gift for all who attend. I'm doing my best to make this drive worthwhile for all who attend. If you didn't know, there are more than 125 caches of all varieties dispersed through the three towns. Also, I plan on creating a bunch of puzzle caches for the event (maybe some Portsmouth Geo Art) that hopefully will keep folks coming back to Island. Festivities at The Beachcomber will run from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. No one will be under any obligation to buy food.
And to make this event ever more worth your while, I plan on using our meeting as a springboard to go after one of Rhode Island's most popular caches, The Knights Templar (GC4Q90W). The plan is to depart between 6:15 and 6:30 for the short drive to Little Compton (about 15 minutes away). It'll be dark and cold to hunt, otherwise perfect conditions. This night cache is best done in a group, so I'm excited to get the gang together in pursuit. I ask those who are attending to let me know if you'll be joining up for the post-game hunt.
