Geocache Description:

HR: Slap Veliki Buk

EN: Waterfall Veliki Buk

HR

EN

Veliki Buk, the biggest and the loudest waterfall of Slunjčica, was described in poems and paintings and eternalised in other ways, both in historical and contemporary works.

In his travelouge dating form 1860, the Croatian philologist Adolf Veber Tkalčević poetically describes the waterfalls of Slunjčica as tiles of white flowers. He expresses his visual and acustic experience, astonishment and respect he felt for the biggest falls of Slunjčica, poetically exaggerating their approximate height. He mentions 20 meters, even though the actual height of the waterfalls is 10-12 meters.
