V primerjavi s preteklostjo so naplavne ravnice ob reki in pritokih zaradi izgradnje protipoplavnih zadrževalnikov in ostalih vodnogradbenih ukrepov veliko bolj varne pred poplavami.
ENG: Ledava squirming in the village of Pichl in Austria, after few kilometers flows into Slovenia, running due south to artificial Ledavsko lake, then turns towards the southeast and runs throughout the northern part of the Murska plane. In the lower reaches of the border between Slovenia and Hungary, and then on the easternmost point of Slovenia, the Slovenian-Croatian-Hungarian border between the estuary of the Mura. Ledava has a distinctly asymmetrical basin: on the right bank is the only tributary stream Črnec in which is located the cache. As a lowland watercourse has most of the time a slow stream, and in particular during the summer low flow. For this reason, and almost all heavily modified artificial channel belongs to a fairly polluted and ecologically impaired water bodies. An extensive part of the flood plain between the right bank Ledava and Mura, which is an important habitat for the black stork is included in the European Natura 2000 network, which aims to preserve biodiversity. Compared with the past, the floodplains along the river and its tributaries due to the construction of flood reservoirs it is much safer from flooding.
