Geocache Description:

In 1993 the Toronto Blue Jays won their second World Series championship.  A huge part of the success of the '93 Blue Jays were the powerhouse hitters in the 1 through 5 spots of the batting order  - White, Alomar, Molitor, Carter, and Olerud. - commonly referred to as 'WAMCO'.  Their combination of speed, on base percentage and heavy hitting bats made these five players a pitcher's worst nightmare.

Roberto Alomar was undoubtedly the most dynamic second baseman in Toronto Blue Jays history.  He came up through the minor leagues in the San Diego Padres system and began his major league career there.

In 1990, Alomar was part of the most significant and memorable blockbuster trade in Blue Jays history, being traded to Toronto, along with Joe Carter for Blue Jay super stars Fred McGriff and Tony Fernandez.

In game four of the 1992 American League Championship series, Alomar hit one of the most famous and important hits in Blue Jays history, a game-tying home run off of Oakland pitcher Dennis Eckersley.  The Blue Jays went on to win their first World Series that season.

Alomar won ten gold gloves and two championships in his career.   In 2011, Roberto Alomar was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, becoming the first hall of famer to enter wearing a Blue Jays cap.
