This is one of a series of caches in tribute to one of the longest running songwriting duos ever. Elton John and Bernie Taupin have been creating music for parts of six decades now. One of the first dates with my now wife was an Elton John concert. And one of the things that I have recently knocked off my bucket list was a visit to Las Vegas to see Elton in his Million Dollar Piano show at Caesar's Palace. Elton no longer performs there, and now has embarked on his three year touring finale before retiring from the road.
I thought that using the studio albums as cache names would provide good variety in this series.
This is the seventeenth studio album recorded and released by Elton John in May of 1983. For the first time since the album Blue Moves in 1976, all lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin, who has continued in this role to the present day. At the insistence of Taupin, John decided to go back to basics and returned to working with Taupin full-time. John also reunited with the core of his backing band of the early '70s: Dee Murray, Nigel Olsson, and Davey Johnstone. Too Low For Zero was his most critically acclaimed disc of the 1980s, earning Platinum certification by the RIAA.Two very popular singles from this album were I'm Still Standing and I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues.
