Besides giving wretched caching hints that only make sense after the find, Gnomes are well known for their love of the theater. The more obnoxiously loud and garish the display, with bombastic buffoonery and cacophonous caterwauling, the more thunderous the applause our favorite underfoot denizens will return. This cache is located in what was certainly once a grand amphitheater hosting all sorts of pompous performances. Nowadays though, will the advent of streaming TV and the interwebs, it rests lonely and forlorn and is slowly being consumed by the surrounding nature. As a last curtain call to its long past heydey, I invite you to pay one final visit to this location to collect a stamp impression of tragedy.
The coordinates will get you very close to the cache (within 10'), but the final find must be made by finding your seat. You are in the upper tier, house right, but have to get to your seats by first stepping down into the orchestra pit. Accessing the area can be accomplished in one of 3 ways.
- Come from the general area of 'The Old Corral'. This requires some bushwhacking, but takes you through a beautiful field of flowers.
- Hop down the embankment from Shiloh Road. This has heavy bushwhacking and a somewhat steep descent (not to mention cars!), but is the shortest path through the woods.
- Walk down Bricker Road to the posted trail-head, then travel the basin of the intermittent stream. This approach is mostly through very tall grass and requires the least bushwhackery, but is longer and tickier!
The cache itself is held in place with tension between two branches. It's been in the field for 3 months prior to publishing, so if you'd be so kind to replace it as found, that assures it will not wash away. Also, The Stamp is NOT a trade item. Please do not take the hand-carved rubber stamp, nor the ink that accompanies it. The logbook on this is small, so come collect an impression, but don't worry about leaving one.
