This is the first geocache we have placed and we hope you enjoy finding it. It was placed by the light of the rare super blood moon of September 27, 2015. Due to proximity to family homes, please do not access this cache after 10pm or before 5am. Thanks! Please don't remove the large container from its hiding place. Easily remove and replace its contents in place. Also, please be sure lids are tight and all is in place for the next seeker. This one is intended to be easy.
A super blood moon is a significant and rare event due to the events that occur together to make it happen. A super moon, so named for its greater than average size and brightness, occurs when the moon is full while at its closest orbital proximity to Earth. A blood moon occurs during a lunar eclipse with Earth standing directly between Sun and moon casting a reddish shadow on the moon. The color is due to light from the sun shining past/through our atmosphere. As during a sunrise or sunset it is light waves from the red end of the color spectrum that make it through to the moon giving it the (blood) red color. The super blood moon is the rare combination of both super moon and blood moon. The last time earth experienced one was in 1982. The next will be in 2033. With luck and help from other cachers we would love to see this cache location survive to see that moon. It should not be hard to find. Pull right up to it and park. There is no need to enter anyone's yard and that won't help anyway. The container has been upgraded to be large enough to hold plenty of interesting cache. We will try to keep it well stocked. We invite you to not only log your find but also share briefly a story about this find or what you were doing during the most recent lunar or solar event. Happy caching!
