What: A geocaching movie night!
Where: Community Service Center
When: Saturday, November 7: From 6:30pm to 8:30pm
There is going to be a different event at the school nearby (Cascade Christian Academy), so parking will be more limited. There is parking in front of the Community Center, facing 5th St. and there is extra parking next to the church on the corner of 5th and Western.
This will be a fun movie night that is friendly towards the whole family. It could also be a fun way to introduce friends to geocaching. We will be providing popcorn, and fruit for everyone. The event will start at 6:30, we hope to have the film showing by 7pm, and it is an hour long total. There will be a few couches and fold up chairs, if you have a comfortable portable chair that you would like to bring, please do!
The event will be held in the basement of the Community Center, where the sign says Youth Center Entrance. There is a short flight of steps to get into the room, so if you need any assistance please say so in your will attend log.
For the past several years, Groundspeak has held a geocaching film contest, where people from all over the world can submit a geocaching related film short (they are 4 or 5 minutes long). Groundspeak sorted through the films each year and picked the best ones (maybe 16 films) and held a giant film festival event in Seattle in correlation to the Block Party. They also allowed Mega events to show the films later. The films also eventually end up on youtube.
This year, the Geocaching International Film Festival (GIFF) in Seattle was rained out and they were not able to hold it. Groundspeak decided to open up the films to anyone who wanted to hold a mini GIFF event in their area.
This will be a fun evening, and we hope to see everyone there.
