FTF has a choice of $5, or the 1:100,000 BLM Map Ruidoso or a fee free coupon to any federal fee site (but you have to use it before National Public Lands Day, 2016). If you take the trails, wear a hat, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, take water and and go with a friend or two.
Go to the campground host site at the Fort Stanton Equestrian Area/Rob Jaggers Camping Area and get a map or use one of the maps in this link - http://www.blm.gov/nm/st/en/prog/NLCS/FSSRC_NCA.html. You can drive right to the cache but you better use a high-clearance vehicle if that's the method of transportation you desire. Or, those 3 trails, by following any one of them uphill, you'll go right near the cache. Or to the cache if, as in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, you've chosen wisely. When you turn off U.S. 380 onto the grey gravel road such as if you were going to GC29WX6, the road slightly left that heads a little uphill between the junipers, that's the Big Tank Canyon Road - it'll take you there but it's gonna be rough. A little ways down the canyon is the Zamora Trail. It'll take you there. You can also follow the the gravel road to Cave Canyon, as if you were going to GC11ZRP. But keep on through the Cave Campground and where the road forks past the arroyo, go left and up over the ridge into East Well Canyon, but it's gonna be rough. Note the East Well Trail, which is not too rough. Okay, have fun.
