Join Geocaching Colorado for another great Holiday Party! For 2015 we have moved the party to a beautiful public community room that sits between the hustle and bustle of Denver and Colorado Springs!
- What: GCCO's 2015 Holiday Event!
- When: Sunday December 20th, 2015 1:00PM-3:30PM
- Where: Philip S. Miller Library (in the Castle Rock Bank Room)
100 South Wilcox St, Castle Rock, CO 80104
- Why: Fun, Geocaching Colorado Style!
The event will begin at 1:00 PM and last until 3:30 PM. Some light refreshments will be provided by GCCO, but feel free to bring your own delicious treats! The Library allows 'light refreshments', so any types of finger foods, chips, veggies, deserts. If you are bringing snacks to share, note it in your 'will attend' log so we know what to expect!
We will have activities for the kiddos (Kids Draffle and Kids CakeWalk), a gift exchange, an ugly sweater contest, a sweet silent auction (with prize baskets donated by GCCO Board Members, Collectible geocoins, and mystery boxes), A Bison Tube Christmas Tree e, and a drawing for some cool prizes (including a GOLD GCCO Geocoin, and the grand prize of a Magellan GPS). Here are the Details!
- To join in on the gift exchange:
- Bring a Gift to give away. Value $5-$10, and it does NOT have to be geocaching-related.
- Drop it off at the Gift Exchange table and we will give you a ticket.
- That's it! At the end of the event, we will pull these tickets at random for people to come up and pick out a gift.
- To participate in the Ugly Sweater contest:
- Wear an ugly sweater to the event.
- when you sign the log, let the person attending the table know that you are participating in the contest and they will assign you a number.
- Just Before 2:00 we will ask everyone who wishes to particpated to line up and model their hideous-ness!
- After all of the particpants have modeled their ugly sweaters, we will ask every attendee to vote for their favorite. The voting will close at the same time the Silent Auction ends so we can tally them up.
- During the prize drawings starting at about 3:00 we will announce the winner of the Ugly Sweater contest!
- To participate in the cool drawings!

- Everyone who attends will recieve one free ticket into the GOLD Coin drawing.
- Every Child will also be given a free ticket for the Kids Draffle
- Tickets for other the prizes will be 6 tickets for $5.00 and 1 for $1.00. Proceeds go to GCCO and cover event costs. GCCO is a sponsor of this event.
- Bison Tubes can be purchased at $5.00 each
Did Somebody Say Bison Tube Christmas Tree? What?
Yes! Well, not a christmas tree made out of bison tubes (sorry, we ran out of hot glue), but a decorative tree with 50 bison tube geocches in it. We will be selling these tubes along with the prize tickets. They will be $5.00/tube. Not only do you get to keep the bison, but there will also be prize inside each bison tube! Some will have raffle tickets, some will have tee shirts, and one lucky bison will have a 1 year premium membership inside of it!
When you purchase your bison, your name will be added to a list. Shortly before the prize drawings we will call people up from that list to pick out their tube(s) from the tree and let everyone know what they won!
Below is a a general timeline of the activities we have planned. *some things may be shorter than planned, some things tend to go longer than expected* We will be updating this timeline as the date gets closer and we come up with MORE cool activities.
- 1:00-1:20: General Mingling. Be sure to sign our logbook, and get your tickets for the various drawings! Enjoy some of the fine snacks and the best company that the state has to offer.
- 1:20: GCCO will make some announcements, including the unveiling of the 2016 Board.
- 1:50: Ugly Sweater Catwalk show! Come to the event in your favorite 'Ugly Sweater' - vote for who has the ugliest!
- 2:00: Kids CakeWalk! We will announce for all of the kiddos who wish to join us for a good old fashioned activity (involving some sweet treats!).
- 2:45: Silent Auction Ends! We hope you put in your winning bids, because we are closing the auction at 2:45 SHARP! Winner will be announced and delivered to during the Prize drawing.
- 2:46: Bison Tube Pickup! We will begin calling the names of those who purchased a bison tube to head over to the tree and pick their tube. Don't forget to tell us what prize you won so we can deliver it to you!
- 3:00: Drawing for the GCCO GOLD COIN! This may be the last change to get a 2015 gold coin, and the only way to get one is to win one from an event!
- 3:05: Drawing for other fun prizes (Many cool things, including geocoins, loaded caches, etc.), including the GRAND PRIZE (ready-to-cache Magellan Explorist GC GPS).
- 3:30: Gift exchange Drawing! This was a huge hit last year, so let's do it again. If you wish to participate, simply bring a gift (Value $5-$10) and drop it off at the designated table. You will recieve a ticket, and at 2:45 we will begin drawing tickets for people to come up and pick from the Gift Exchange!
