When the hightway was finished in the early 1960's, this was the only rest stop on the new highway. Then colgate licks, and the Lochsa work center got one so this rest stop building disappeared. Probably due to limited parking and close to a curve.
Looks like it still is used for a stop with all the TP around in the bushes.
