Features of the centre include a multi-media museum gallery high-lighting the role of the forest in the evolution of Whitecourt; a multi-purpose room and an 70 seat auditorium, both equipped with excellent audio-visual capabilities. Bathroom facilities, a dump station, playground, walking trails and even an heirloom garden are available for the cacher who just wants to stop and smell the flowers.
Adjacent to the centre, there is a Heritage Park work-in-progress which is recreating an early 20th century logging town. Buildings, vehicles, tools and artifacts from this period are being gathered for restoration. An old pioneer church was restored and offers weddings in the historic building, surrounded by the Whitecourt forest. Many weddings have already been held in this scenic unique setting. Tours of the Heritage Buildings are offered in the summer.
This is a great rest stop for any traveller young or old.
The cache is winter friendly.
