Kes One- Hoyland Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: As this cache seems to have been missing for a considerable time, I'm archiving it to keep it from showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements.

Please note that if geocaches are archived by a reviewer or Geocaching HQ for lack of maintenance, they are not eligible for unarchival.

Geocache Description:

Barry Hines published ‘A Kestrel for a Knave’ in 1968 and it has become a classic for its honest depiction of life in the South Yorkshire coalfield. When Ken Loach wanted to make a film version of the book, several locations in Hoyland were selected.  Hines and Loach met in Hoyland before filming began and walked part of this route together.

This is the first in a series of caches hidden to guide people to some of the locations used in the iconic British film Kes (1969) and other points of interest. Kes regularly features in the top 10 of the best British films ever made.

This circular route takes you through Skiers Spring Wood, to Tankersley Old Hall, up to Hoyland Lowe Stand and back. It is a mixture of trails and footpaths. Please take care when crossing busy roads. You are looking for a magnetic nano.

The Dearne Valley Landscape Partnership is working with local geocachers to develop a number of routes. If you have any ideas or comments then please get in touch.
