You are seeking s short two stage multi cache that begins at the grave marker for A. C. Roycroft, a Veteran of the Civil War.
A.C. Roycroft enlisted as a Private in Company A of the 41st Alabama Regiment. Seven months later he was promoted to the rank of 1st Sergeant. On April 18, 1864 A.C. was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant.
During July 1864, the 41st Regiment was in the trenches around Petersburg, Virginia. The action they saw there resulted in 11 being killed and 50 wounded. On July 11, 1864, 2nd Lieutenant Roycroft was wounded and sent to the hospital.
A short wartime diary kept by A.C. Roycroft during the final days of his service in the CSA. It is held at the W. S. Hoole Special Collections Library at the University of Alabama. This diary spans just 54 days near the end of the war, from March 13, 1865 to May 5, 1865.
