Geocache Description:

One of several caches recognizing some of the birds and animals we've seen while driving this road.

Timber rattlesnakes, also known as, Canebrake rattlesnakes are not uncommon in this area.  However, in Texas, they are listed as threatened and  protected by law.  There are rumors they were re-introduced here a few years back.

Highly venomous, they are slow to defend themselves and will hide if possible.

For your safety, you should always have on closed shoes and be careful where you put your hands.
