The lock on the cache container is a Letter combination lock. There are five wheels on the lock with a variety of letters that must be set in the correct order. The five letters you need must be obtained by solving the following clues. The answer is nothing obvious.
The clues are associated with various works of art inside the main floor terminal of the Halifax International Airport. There is no need to go thru Security and up to the Departure Terminal. Note: there aren't that many works of "art" in the airport, so a couple of these clues may be generously described as art works.
The five letters of the code in order are:
1. In the arrivals area there is a giant globe hanging from the ceiling. In what compass direction is the circling airplane heading? Take the last letter of this word.
2. Due to never ending construction and the lack of permanent artwork, what is the initial of the middle name of the person this airport is named after?
3. Look for the big compass. There's only one and it's really big. Look for the compass point that points out towards the runways (East-ish). On either side of that compass arrow point there are words printed around the perimeter of the mosaic. What letter of the alphabet is closest to that arrow point? Note: it's the same letter on either side of the compass point.
4. In the food court area, near the entrance to departures Security, up on the wall is a very large native Nova Scotian artwork. What is the first letter of the artist's first name?
5. Go to the Clearwater Lobster outlet near the domestic check in area. There is an eight foot model lighthouse out front. Around the main body (not the top), there's a series of windows, each made up of individual panes of glass. How many panes of glass in total are in the all windows. Take the fourth letter of this number. Note: Clearwater closed due to Covid, but the lighthouse is still there.
Please re-secure the lock and cache as you found it. The lock doesn't click shut. Just hold it closed and spin the wheels.
There is parking right at the Bell sub-station, or it's an easy 600m walk or so from the terminal. Head towards the cell phone tower in the distance. Don't park where No Parking signs are posted.
For this cache I put in a few items such as a Nova Scotia lanyard, a yoyo, some authentic New Orleans Mardi Gras beads (got them there myself), a Nova Scotia golf ball, some pins, and some halloween pencils. I'll replenish it when I can.
