Many marchant vessels were called out during the WW2. As the Imperial Japan Navy did not consider guarding these vessels to be important, many of them were sunk by enemy.

太平洋戦争では物資の輸送のため民間の輸送船も動員されました。しかし、大日本帝国海軍はこれらの船団の護衛をあまり重要視しなかったため、7240隻、60,331名もの被害を出す結果となってしまいました。
戦没した船と海員の資料館では戦没した船の写真が展示されています。
