Christmas Corroboree XIII Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

MikeG: Time for bed...Thanks to everybody who attended and contributed to the mega raffle - over £200 was raised and will be donated to the Yorkshire Mega Event fundraising as soon as they have an account and financial governance in place.

Happy New Year to all and keep your diaries clear for Saturday April 23rd when I hope to organise a St George's Day Event somewhere in the South/West Yorkshire area when hopefully StevieP will be well enough to join us there.

Geocache Description:

It's that time of year again folks so.....

For the thirteenth year running, please step aboard the good ship Black Pig and join us once again for:

Christmas Corroboree XIII

Arrrrrh!

This year's venue is once again:

The Crown and Anchor

Barugh Lane

Barugh Green

Barnsley

S75 1LL

Full details regarding the pub's location, menus and ales etc. can be found on the Crown and Anchor's website here

Kick-off is at 12.00 midday and we expect the final reprobates to be leaving around 7pm.

Well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they are clean however they must remain in the bar area at the front of the pub. Well behaved kids and OAPs are as always welcome (as long as they are clean) too!

We have reserved the front bar area for our use but we are free to use the rest of the pub/dining area if required however dogs are not allowed in the dining area

For your delight, 6 real ales are generally available as well as a bank of regular draft lagers and ales. Whisky drinkers are also well catered for!

The menus are also comprehensive catering for all requirements from sandwiches to full meals

We hope to see all the regular suspects there but equally as important, new geocachers are particularly welcome who can be assured of a warm reception and a chat about all things Geocaching related which will be readily given (especially after a few beers)

If anyone wants to set caches for the day, please feel free. There are currently over 140 active caches within 3 miles of the event location but there is always room for more!

As usual, Santa's Secret Cache packed with goodies for the kids will be parachuted somewhere into the area for the day so keep an eye out for it being published just prior to the event. A raffle will also be held to fund the cache with surplus proceeds going to The Crown and Anchor's chosen charity so raffle donations on the day will be most welcome

The Crown and Anchor is 2.7 miles from Junction 38 of the M1 just off the A637 heading towards Barnsley. On entering Barugh turn right at the first mini roundabout onto Barugh Lane and the venue is on your right in about 100yds

Barugh Lane is also on bus routes - 93 93A 95 95A

Darton Station is a 25 min walk away (c1.25miles) and is also serviced by the above bus routes

Darton Station is serviced by trains from Leeds, Wakefield, Barnsley and Sheffield  on the Leeds/Sheffield route and on Corroboree day departures are:

Sheffield: 6 mins past the hour

Barnsley: 33mins past the hour

Leeds Central: 33 mins past the hour from

Wakefield Kirkgate: 5 mins past the hour
