Stradchanskaya Cave is the most important place in Ukraine for the local Greek Catholics. Reliable information is not preserved, but according to legend the cave complex appeared in XI century - it was founded by monks marching from Kiev. This place is mentioned in the Ipatiev Chronicles and is called Domazhirov’s Cave named after the village Domazhir, next to which is the temple complex.

Entrance cave of monastery is 40 m in length, and extend 270 m deep in the cave. Cells lay at a depth of 20 m below the ground. Above the cave there is a fortified settlement, neighborhood residents were hiding in caves during the Mongol invasions. During one of these raids invaders learned about the cave and ordered the monks to give hidden people. When monks refused to do that, Tatars killed them and poisoned the locals by smoke of fires divorced at the entrance to the cave. According to legend, the Tatar-Mongols were not able to rob the dead, as the Mother of God came down from Heaven to scare away the Mongols with the words: “Do not touch! The wall!”.

In the XV century it was founded Stradchanskaya Pechersk Lavra, and in the XVI century the monastery was known as Basilian. Alas, the main shrine is not preserved - there is only a copy of the miraculous icon of the Stradch’s Mother of God of Unbreakable Wall. In 1936 were found the Holy Cross Road to the mountain cave receiving the status of Jerusalem by Pope Pius XI.
