ESP - Esta plaza, la Plaza del 3 de Marzo, fué nombrada tras uno de los episodios mas tristes de la historia reciente de este país. 1976 comienza en Vitoria con un conflicto laboral: tras 40 años de dictadura y tras la muerte de Franco, los trabajadores luchan por unas mejoras laborales al margen del sindicate vertical franquista. El 3 de marzo se convoca la tercera huelga general. La respuesta es masiva y la ciudad se paraliza. A las 5 de la tarde se convocoó en la iglesia de esta plaza una asamblea para analizar la huelga. Mas de 4000 la abarrotaban cuando se produjo un gran despliegue policial para desalojarla. Lanzaron gases lacrimogenos que causaron el panico dentro. Y cuando los asistente comenzaon a salir la policia empezo a disparar de manera indiscriminada. El resultado fueron cinco obreros asesinados y unos cien heridos, muchos de ellos de gravedad.
ENG - This square, 3rd of March Square, has it's name after one of the most tragic moments of the recent history of this country. 1976 started in Vitoria with a lot of tension: after 40 years of dictatorship and with Franco already dead, the workingclass started to fight to improve their working conditions. On the 3rd of March a third general strike was called. Masses of people supported it and the city came to a standstill. At 5pm that day there was scheduled an informative assembly to assess the results of the strikes. More than 4000 people were congregated inside when the police broke in throwing smoke canister to eject the demonstrators. Panic erupted and when the assistents started to evacuate the church police started to shoot indiscriminately. 5 workers were killed and many more were wounded.
ESP - El funeral por las victimas fue multitudinario en la catedral nueva de la ciudad. A día de hoy se celebran numeros actos para recordad a las victimas y aun se siguen exigiendo responsabilidades por los actos. Justo enfrente de la plaza vereis una fachada con un mural recordatorio de los eventos del 3 de marzo de 1976.
ENG - Almost everybody in town assited to the funeral at the cathedral. Nowadays many events are hold to remember the victims, and even today people is demanding justice for those lame incidents. Right acroos the street from the square you will find a façade with a great mural remainding of what happend right here not so many years ago.

If you feel that the logbook is kind of stuck in the container, do not pull it, just try to spin it a bit and it will come out safe and sound.
