So tired (Auckland) Traditional Cache

alligatorsnz: so i went over right after the fire, and found while the cache had presumably evaporated in the fire the single landmark tree in the crater had been destroyed.... strangely though, it appeared that it was however not by fire.. ... instead the trunk lay there with the distinct appearance of having been cut down with an axe.. the leaves where dry the trunk intact and all around it was nothing but ash??>> was that that tree fire proof? did the pile of oddly stacked rocks at the crater floor spell some kind of alien landing in which the tree had been beamed up for study and probing and then returned when the fire was out.. ah well none of it matters now...

so then right after i had replaced the cache in a nice hole in a rock i get reports it can't be found any where - some suggest they found the right spot and even moved the clue item but still didn't find the cache... always looking for and excuse for a paddle, headed over today to find that the clue item had also now evaporated.. presumably snatched by the same aliens.. or dragged to the crater summit to roll to the bottom of the island... either way it quickly became apparent that the speed the ferns are re growing there will be no way to mark the cache location and with crappy signal... its a wrap.. cache removed..
