This is one of a series of caches in tribute to one of the longest running songwriting duos ever. Elton John and Bernie Taupin have been creating music for parts of six decades now. One of the first dates with my now wife was an Elton John concert. And one of the things that I have recently knocked off my bucket list was a visit to Las Vegas to see Elton in his Million Dollar Piano show at Caesar's Palace. Elton no longer performs there, and now has embarked on his three year touring finale before retiring from the road.
I thought that using the studio albums as cache names would provide good variety in this series.
This is the thirty first studio album recorded and released by Elton John in September of 2013, marking the sixth decade in which a studio album was produced by John and Taupin. It is also the latest album produced. It is the second consecutive studio release without any of his regular band members. It is also his highest-charting solo album in the United States since Blue Moves in 1976. John says this album is "the most exciting solo record I've done in a long, long time." The Diving Board was initially written in two days. The album went through several revisions. John called the revised album "The most piano-oriented album of my career" and said "It's my most adult album". In total the album's release had been pushed back four times. Two singles from the album include Home Again, performed live at the Grammy ceremony, and Can't Stay Alone Tonight.
