Geocache Description:

“The Canberra Centenary Trail is a 145 kilometre self-guided, non-motorised loop trail for walkers and touring cyclists that showcases Canberra and takes users on a journey between urban and rural environments past iconic sites and hidden treasures."

Users are able to join or leave the trail in many locations.” See attached link.

Map of Section 2 - Watson to Northern Border Campsite

This part of the trail begins at the Federal Highway in Watson and follows a section of the Remembrance Driveway, a planted tribute to Australians who served in the Second World War and subsequent conflicts. Commenced in 1954, it covers a 320 kilometre section of the Federal Highway which links Sydney to Canberra.

The trail crosses Horse Park Drive and continues North into the Goorooyarroo Nature Reserve to the New South Wales border before heading West to Mulligans Flat Woodland Sanctuary. The trail then continues North to the border, and follows the border to the Northern Border Camp Site.

This section of the Canberra Centenary Trail is 18 kilometres long and is rated as a 7 hour walk or 2 hour ride. As always with the Centenary Trail, it can be easily accessed and left at various points so you can break your adventures into smaller, easier managed pieces. The trail is easy for a mountain bike ride or a pleasant walk/run.

As with all outdoor and bush activities, take plenty of water, and a spare battery for the GPS. Summer in the bush within the ACT does have an abundance of wildlife, including various reptiles. When this series was laid, our biggest concern was to avoid spraining an ankle in the many wombat holes however in the warmer months, snakes will be active in the area. Stick to the formed tracks of the trail and remain observant.

WARNING - The next section of the trail is a technical ride. There are some cool little jumps followed by three sharp switch backs.
