Het Klein Begijnhof is een charmante oase van rust in de Mechelse binnenstad.
Dit eerste Begijnhof van Mechelen dateert uit de dertiende eeuw. Later komt er een Begijnhof buiten de stadsmuren, maar oude en gebrekkige begijnen blijven binnen de stadsmuren wonen. Drie toegangspoorten sloten in die tijd het pleintje af – ze zijn ondertussen verdwenen.
