Dietrich is a European relative of the McHoot clan. However he wants you to know that he is of royal lineage and is not often found in the company of the McHoots. “Batty bunch of birds,” he was once heard to utter. Dietrich and Mintaro are quite fond of each other, but that’s another story.
In fact, the last time the Baron crossed paths with a McHoot was at Scooty’s Surf Club ‘n’ Grill, when Ignatius fell into a vat of tomato sauce and was attacked by a passing Falcon. Don’t let anyone tell you that owls and falcons have anything in common. It’s just not true!
Dietrich is taller, better looking, and not as fluffy as his Aussie cousins. He trained as a crack fighter pilot with the German Air Force. He now runs a lucrative business importing ducks into Australia and New Zealand. Not just any ducks, mind you, but fancy ducks. The kind of ducks your mother warned you about. Ducks can be devilishly naughty, but that’s another story.
The Baron’s stature and standing require that he live in a McMansion nestled in the lush surrounds of a tropical garden. He often has a few birds on the property and you may be lucky enough to be invited to one of his famous Frolicking Feathers dance parties. Dress to impress!
On occasions you may spot one of the local McHoots lurking around the property. Dietrich has a superior security system that spans the perimeter of his estate. The Chief Security Guard is a sulphur-crested cockatoo named Blondie. Before joining the Baron’s entourage, Blondie worked in IT and was awarded the Golden Claw Award for developing a surveillance app that detects birds of prey. He is married to a goanna named Rosie, but that’s another story.
The Baron has migrated to Australia permanently, although he sports a strong accent and finds it difficult to understand why the local birds scatter when he walks into a bar.
Dietrich will be easy to find and he has a cast iron grip on the cache. Please make sure he's on his feet when you leave
