Geocache Description:

The listed coordinates take you to a large obelisk in Acacia Memorial Park. Solve the clues, find the cache.

The cemetery has no posted hours, but please confine your search between the Sun rising in the East and setting in the West. A tool may be required to retrieve the log.

Acacia Memorial Park is a cemetery for Masonic and Eastern Star families. The Free and Accepted Masons (Freemasons) are the oldest and largest Fraternal group in the world and traces their origins to the local fraternities of stonemasons, which from the end of the fourteenth century regulated the qualifications of stonemasons and their interaction with authorities and clients. Masons are members of the organization. The degrees of freemasonry retain the three grades of medieval craft guilds, those of Apprentice, Journeyman or fellow (now called Fellowcraft), and Master Mason. These are the degrees offered by craft, or blue lodge Freemasonry. There are additional degrees, which vary with locality and jurisdiction, and are now administered by different bodies than the craft degrees. Membership is open to any man, 21 or over, of good character.

The Order of the Eastern Star, formed in 1921, is an auxillary of the Masons, for Masons, their wives, sisters and daughters.

While the Masons may be regarded for their secrecy, there are actually only a few secrets, and those are purely modes of recognition pertaining to the various degrees. No secrets are revealed in this geocache.

Complete the coordinates based on answers to the following questions:

A) North is the place of darkness, because in Masonic Tradition we learn that North of the ecliptic, the sun cannot illuminate the Northern face of a building. On the North face of the pedestal of the obelisk, there is a Roman Numeral date. The last 3 characters are what number? This is A.

B) In Masonry, the South is the place of the glory of the noonday Sun, and the seat of the Junior Warden. On the South face of the pedestal of the obelisk, there is a bible passage referenced. Multiply the Chapter and Verse, double the result and then add 45. This is B.

C) The Senior Warden presides in the West, which represents the close of day, and the time when Masons rest from their labours. On the West face of the obelisk, you will see a carven arch, consisting of a keystone, surrounded by 3 rectangular blocks on each side. Using the word under the keystone, substitute numbers for the letters using a simple cipher (A=1, B=2, etc.) Add the numbers and subtract 5. This is C.

D) The Sun rises in the East, as the Worshipful Master rises in the East to bring illumination to his Lodge. On the Eastern face of the pedestal of the obelisk is another bible passage. Count the number of words and multiply this number by 20. Add 18 to the result. This is D.

Use the numbers to reveal the coordinates. The final is less than 1/10th of a mile from the obelisk.

N41 A.B
