Im Jahr 2013 startete der Bau des 3,2 km langen Bauabschnitts vom Dreieck Neukölln bis zur neuen Anschlussstelle Treptower Park. Hier vor Ort wird die Anschlussstelle Sonnenallee gebaut. Insgesamt soll die Strecke 473 Mio. Euro kosten und 2022 fertig werden.
Nebenan befindet sich Deutschlands größtes Hotel. Gegenüber vom Estrel Hotel, wo sich hinter dem Cache jetzt noch der Hotelparkplatz befindet, soll der Estrel-Tower gebaut werden. Mit 175m Höhe wäre das Berlins höchster Wolkenkratzer.
