You are looking for a small film pot sized container that is quite well hidden. The cache container is very basic as the intention of it is to draw you to visit the phone box. This phone box is the seventh that we have restored in Hampshire and the first in Lyndhurst.
The phone box is a K6 kiosk that was built in the Lion Foundry in Scotland. Since then, it has been used by many generations of people from the area but with the dawn of mobile phones, the kiosk was threatened with removal. Lyndhurst Parish Council stepped in to adopt the phone box for £1 as part of BT's adopt a kiosk scheme, before asking us to carry out the restoration.
Restoration was completed in October 2015 and we hope that it is well used in the future. You can help the phone box by bringing some books to exchange. There is also a selection of leaflets to take that give information about what's on in Lyndhurst. The map and history boards inside were kindly provided by the New Forest National Park Authority. The phone box will now be used as a community information kiosk and is an excellent source of information for local history, walks and events. Please feel free to sign the red visitor book on the top shelf but please be aware that this is NOT the cache or the log book.
We have also restored phone boxes in Marchwood, Bramshaw, Fritham, Nomansland and Furzley. Three of our phone boxes (Bramshaw, Fritham and Marchwood) also have geocaches in them and we'd love it if you visited them too. (GC53HZP, GC53HJ0 and GC5Z4PY)
This cache could be done as a cache and dash but it would be great if you could spend some time in the phone box.
The cache has been placed with the kind permission of Lyndhurst Parish Council in accordance with GAGB guidelines. Please also be aware that there is no night caching in the New Forest.
We hope you enjoy the cache, but more importantly, we hope you enjoy our phone box.
