Autrefois la route et les terrains avoisinants étaient coupés par deux fossés qui ont presque disparus aujourd’hui. Ils formaient 2 des 5 niveaux d’enceintes que comptait La Ferté-Imbault au Moyen âge.
Le premier passait au numéro 2 et on peut encore apercevoir la source qui s’y écoulait : elle est aujourd’hui maçonnée. (Faite attention derrière les installations électriques).
Le second est plus visible et se trouve non loin de la cache. Il formait le dernier rempart du village.
L’ « objet » où la cache est située est mentionné dans les registres de la paroisse du XIXe siècle.

The road where you’re standing leads to the town of Saint-Viâtre. Until the late XIXth century, there was no construction here, except the buildings located number 13 and 6 They both dates from the XVIIIth or early XIXth century.
A long time ago, the street and the neighbouring lands were crossed by two ditches, almost invisible today. During the middle ages, they were a part of the city defence.
The first ditch crossed the street next to the house number 2. A spring, who used to fed it, is still observable even if it is now concreted over (please mind the electric installation).
The second ditch is better visible and is close to the cache. It was the last “rampart” of the city.
The “object” where the cache is, is mentioned in the XIXth century parish administration registers.
