Motivo de la Singularidad Este ejemplar presenta un porte atractivo, bien conformado y no muestra evidencias de haber sido sometido a la extracción del corcho desde hace muchos años. Quercus suber es objeto de especial protección en el municipio por la Ordenanza de Planificación, Uso y Protección de Zonas Verdes, Parques, Jardines y Defensa del Patrimonio Vegetal de Mijas desde abril de 2009. Se localiza en una zona ajardinada del conjunto Jardines de Calahonda, Fase I, en la Urb. Sitio de Calahonda, cercano a unas viviendas adosadas y rodeado de otras especies vegetales de carácter ornamental, sobre un terreno cubierto de césped. Why the tree is so unique This tree is located in a garden of Jardines de Calahonda, Phase I, in the urbanization Sitio de Calahonda, near some town houses and surrounded by other ornamental plants on a grassy area. The tree is very attractive, well built and shows no evidence of having been subjected to the extraction of cork for many years. Quercus Suber is a special protected tree in the municipality, which is regulated in the Bylaws of Use and Protection of Green Areas, Parks, Heritage Gardens and Plant Defense of Mijas, since April 2009.
