Birds of Ravensbourne

Seek….

  • Walk or cycle along the harbor side path.
  • Look around not too far from the path.

…. And you shall find

Fun Facts:

  • Each high tide brings more nutrients, and varying periods of inundation by the sea create habitat for lots of different species. Fish, crabs, worms, shellfish, snails and many others all find a place to live and feed – with a lot of them retreating into the mud when the tide goes out.
  • See if you can spot some of the following birds that live in the harbour:
    • Red billed gulls
    • Mallards
    • Spoonbills
    • Oystercatchers
    • Little black shags
    • Herons
    • Spotted Shags

Important information:

  • Be aware of traffic nearby.
  • Be aware of the trains, look before crossing the tracks and there is no need to go on the tracks.
  • Be aware of the water in the harbour there is no need to get into the harbour.
  • Observe the birds that use the harbour and estuary. But do not disturb them.
