This cache is dedicated to the one room country school houses that in years gone by where the center of every community on PEI. They served not only as a school but also as a place for Christmas concerts, meeting and community showers. Then in the early 1960’s came consolidation and one by one the little school houses were closed and gave way to larger schools. Many of these schools, like the ones you will visit, were purchased by the Women’s Instisutes or other service clubs of the community and continued to serve as a center of the community for card parties, children’s parties, meetings and community showers.
