St Paul's House was designed by Thomas Ambler and was opened in 1878. This stunning building is of "Hispano-Moorish" style, and is build from red and pink brick with a bit of terracotta thrown in for good luck.
It was build as a "cloth-cutting works built for John Barran, the founder of the mass-produced, ready-made clothing industry in Leeds. John Barran was a Mayor of Leeds and served as its Liberal M.P. from 1876-1885.
The building was extensively altered and restored in 1976 with a completely new interior, creating new office space.
The minarets which were originally terracotta, but are now fibreglass reproductions, though can’t tell from ground level. It really is an outstanding building.
