No. 7 Revetment, Spillway & Reservoir
During World War 2 a field signal unit was based at Toodyay and it is assumed this site was their headquarters. A separate area on the edge of Pelham Reserve near Henry Street is believed to have housed a bunker complex for the same unit.
At the conclusion of the war both sites were decommissioned which involved the demolition and removal of various underground offices, rooms and covered communications trenches. Both areas are now covered by mounds of dirt and much of went on here during the war years has yet to be made known.

A pathway between the mounds here will also lead you to the site of the original 1900 reservoir that supplied water to the township of Newcastle (now called Toodyay). A series of concrete slabs which acted as a spillway for the reservoir are still in place and visible from the pathway.

The township was connected to the Goldfields pipeline in 1908 and in 1920 the sluice gates of the now redundant reservoir were closed to allow swimming. Today this often overlooked Pelham Reserve waterhole largely dries up during the summer months because the underground spring that once fed it has now ceased to flow.
