[IT] La piazza
La piazza è dedicata a Dante Alighieri (Firenze 1265 - Ravenna 1321), poeta, scrittore e politico fiorentino e padre della lingua italiana.
Al centro della piazza sorge il monumento a lui dedicato e inaugurato nel 1896 quale simbolo dell'italianità di Trento che allora faceva ancora parte del Tirolo e dell'Impero Austro-Ungarico. Una descrizione dettagliata della storia e dell'opera potete trovarla cliccando qui.
La piazza è per la maggior parte formata da un bellissimo giardino pubblico distinto in due zone separate da una grande area pedonale spesso usata per manifestazioni, fiere, mostre, mercatini, etc. Nella zona sud (vicino al cache) è presente anche un bel "Laghetto dei cigni", ma purtroppo di cigni non se ne vedono più, e una splendida "palazzina liberty" appena restaurata e che diventerà presto la sede di una biblioteca giovanile e di un bar; mentre nella zona nord, recentemente recuperata e sistemata, c'è un'area gioco per i più piccoli attrezzata con giostra, scivolo, altalena e giochi a molla.
Nella piazza, oltre alla già citata grande statua di Dante, visibile anche da lontano, trovano collocazione anche altre installazioni: a pochi metri dal cache c'è un opera scultorea dedicata alla famiglia tipica trentina e appena più avanti, al di là del ponticello sul laghetto, si scorge una scultura commemorativa in memoria di Padre Eusebio Francesco Chini (Segno - Val di Non 1645 - Magdalena de Kino - Messico 1711), gesuita, missionario, geografo, cartografo e astronomo riconosciuto come uno dei padri fondatori dello stato dell'Arizona. A nord invece ci sono dei busti in bronzo rappresentanti personaggi illustri trentini e non: Giacomo Bresadola, Giosuè Carducci, Antonio Gazzoletti, Giovanni Prati e Luigi Negrelli.
Delimitano la piazza importanti edifici: a nord il Palazzo della Provincia Autonoma di Trento (iniziato nel 1875 - ex sede dell'Hotel Trento poi Imperial), a est il Palazzo della Regione Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol (1958-1965 - arch. Adalberto Libera) e il Grand Hotel Trento (ing. Giovanni Lorenzi), a ovest la stazione ferroviaria (1934-1936 - arch. Angelo Mazzoni), l'antica Abbazia di San Lorenzo del XII sec, la stazione delle autocorriere e l'ostello della gioventù, mentre il lato sud, ora strada molto trafficata, era l'antico letto del fiume Adige prima della rettifica avvenuta tra il 1857 e il 1858 e al di là del quale si entra nel centro storico della città.

The square is dedicated to Dante Alighieri (Florence 1265 - Ravenna 1321), poet, writer and Florentine politician and father of the Italian language.
At the center of the square stands the monument dedicated to him and opened in 1896 as a symbol of Trento's italianism which was then still part of Tyrol and the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The square is mostly formed by a beautiful garden divided into two areas separated by a large pedestrian area often used for events, trade fairs, exhibitions, markets, etc. In the south (near cache) is also a nice "Swan Pond", but unfortunately the swans do not see more, and a beautiful "Art Nouveau building" that has just been restored and will soon become the home to a youth library and a bar; while in the north, recently restored and arranged, there is a play area for children equipped with a carousel, slide, swing and spring games.
In the square, in addition to the aforementioned large statue of Dante, visible from afar, they are also placing other installations: a few meters from the cache there is a sculptural work of a typically Trentino family and just ahead, beyond the bridge on pond, you can see a commemorative sculpture in memory of Father Eusebio Kino (Segno - Non Valley 1645 - Magdalena de Kino - Mexico 1711), Jesuit missionary, geographer, cartographer and astronomer recognized as a founding father of the state of Arizona. To the north there are instead of bronze busts representing famous people from Trentino and not: Giacomo Bresadola, Giosuè Carducci, Antonio Gazzoletti, Giovanni Prati and Luigi Negrelli.
Important buildings surrounding the square: at north side the Palace of Autonomous Province of Trento (started in 1875 - the former seat of the Hotel Trento then Imperial), at east side the Palace of the Trentino-Alto Adige / Südtirol (from 1958 to 1965 - arch. Adalberto Libera) and the Grand Hotel Trento (eng. Giovanni Lorenzi), at west side the railway station (1934-1936 - arch. Angelo Mazzoni), the ancient Abbey of Saint Lawrence of the twelfth century, the bus station and the youth hostel, while the south side, now busy street, was the ancient bed of the river Adige before the adjustment took place between 1857 and 1858 and beyond which you enter the old town.
[IT] Il cache - leggere con attenzione!
Si tratta di un piccolo contenitore nascosto al limite esterno dei giardini sud della piazza, verso l'incrocio di strade molto trafficato (semaforo). Ho voluto tenermi lontano dai giardini, soprattutto quelli a nord, noti alle cronache per essere purtroppo frequentati da spacciatori di droga prevalentamente stranieri e dai relativi consumatori. Il cache non è quindi in una posizione che dovrebbe insospettire anche se comunque non mi assumo responsabilità per eventuali controlli degli organi di polizia! La piazza è ovviamente videosorvegliata (ma ormai quale strada cittadina non lo è?) e la presenza di babbani è notevolissima. Per questi motivi pongo una difficoltà del cache elevata. Ci siamo capiti?
[EN] The cache - read carefully!
It is a small container hidden from the outer limit of the gardens south of the square, at the intersection of busy roads (traffic light). I wanted to keep me away from the gardens, especially those in the north, known to the news for being unfortunately frequented by drug dealers, mainly foreigners, and from its consumers. The cache is therefore not in a position that should be suspicious but anyway I do not assume responsibility for inspection of the police! The square is obviously under video surveillance (but now as city street is not?) And the presence of muggles is remarkable. For these reasons, I place a high difficulty of the cache. Do you get the picture?
