ENG: Fossil oak was found during the excavation of gravel in Petišovci residue. In the summer of 1981, the excavation of gravel in Petišovci at a depth of four to eight feet encounter on fossil thick elms, oaks and willows. Sites in Petišovci is until now the richest sites of this kind in Southern Europe. It can be assumed that trees undermine Mura, when in shifts its bed. Later, he washed and burried countless gravel layers. Dismantled fossil oak is the most important discovery. When picking up the trunks from the water, the upper part broke off, so it is assumed that the total height of the tree at the time of growth was 30 to 40 meters. Age finds, which have been determined on the basis of radiometric dating method of 14C is about 1570 years old. The trunk, which is well preserved, has in the lower part diameter of 1.2 meters. At the turn of the wood is sturdy and gray on the surface but charred and cracked.
