Nos Açores a pesca data dos primórdios da colonização das ilhas. Pratica-se uma pesca altamente artesanal, sem grande impacto no meio ambiente, essencialmente com aparelhos de linha e anzol. As principais pescarias açorianas são a pescaria demersal e de profundidade e a pescaria de atum.

Fishing in the Azores has existed since the Islands were first colonized and fishing methods have remained highly artisanal. Hook-and-line fishing is still the principal method used and allows for a minimal impact on the marine environment.

A quase totalidade das capturas da frota demersal açoriana é constituída por cerca de uma dezena de espécies, das quais a que apresenta uma maior importância é o Goraz, que é considerada a principal espécie alvo desta pescaria.

The Deep-sea Demersal Fishery has a multispecific character and involves the capture of approximately 20 distinct families. Out of these, approximately 10 species provide 90% of the total catch. The tuna catches are constituted by four principal species.

No local existe um Monumento ao Pescador da Caloura Tragédias e Naufrágios que lembra os que perderam a vida na faina e que também devem ser lembrados!
O monumento está localizado num pequeno miradouro, por cima do varadouro e tem acesso, por detrás do novo Posto de Turismo da Caloura.
Dali, visualiza-se uma panorâmica de todo o porto, Convento da Caloura e Ermida.
Este monumento é uma forma de homenagear os pescadores desaparecidos no mar entre 1965 e 2008.

A cache encontra-se em área publica, não sendo necessário ultrapassar o muro de protecção.

On site there is a Monument to the Fisherman's Tragedies and Shipwrecks of Caloura reminiscent of those who lost their lives in toil and should also be reminded!
The monument is located in a small gazebo, above the dry dock and have access behind the new Tourist Information Office of Caloura.
From there, we see is an overview of the entire harbor, Caloura Convent and Chapel.
This monument is a way to honor the missing fishermen at sea between 1965 and 2008.

The cache is in the public area without the need to overcome the protection wall.
