Trapper Creek Museum has a collection of artifacts, stories and pictures depicting the life of Alaska's homesteaders, gold rush miners and trapping pioneers. It is a settler’s log cabin built by the Donaldson family, members of the Michigan 59'ers; a group of latter-day pioneers. The Trapper Creek area was settled in 1959 by a caravan of people who traveled from Michigan. Commonly referred to as the "59ers," those who stayed settled and homesteaded in Trapper Creek. They were solely dependent on the railroad for transportation, which meant crossing the Susitna River to reach the railroad tracks in Talkeetna.
