Geocache Description:

Starting a new series with this cache:  My Favorite Foreign Caches.  I've been fortunate enough to visit some other countries, mostly because my son is in the Air Force and I've been able to visit him while he has been stationed overseas.

My favorite foreign cache in Germany would have to be Medieval View, GC26C.  This still active cache is one of the oldest caches in Germany, hidden in February of 2001.  I found it on April 1, 2009 - a Jasmer filler for me, though I didn't yet have much of a sense of what a Jasmer was back then.

Here is my log from my find:

I am in the area visiting my son - we visited the castle today, the first day it was open for the season. A wonderful place! Afterwards we hiked to the cache and found it in pretty good condition for a cache that's been there so long! This is the oldest cache I've found, by about a month. The lid does not fit very tightly any more but we did the best we could. I left five travelers as I am headed for home tomorrow and I wasn't sure we would find another regular sized cache. Glad I did as we didn't find any others large enough for travelers. Danke for the cache. #1511 --RedhedMary, Michigan USA

The cache is similar to Medieval View in that it is placed in a wooded area.  The view, though, is not that of a castle but of the Wittenbach Nature Center.  Thanks to TJPost for archiving some of their caches in the center to make room for some new hides.  Enjoy the trails!
