Beginning on May 2nd, 2008, his best month was August, 2013 with 383 finds. His best day contributed to almost half of those finds with 155 on August 6th. Even with that effort, his best year was 2014 with a total of 1,521 finds.
In his 7+ year addiction, he has been fairly consistent. Averaging 1,300 to 1,400 caches per year is not surprising since he is a math professor and likes linear things. Although he has completed almost every "grid", he still has a three states to visit yet. Not only that, there are 8 counties in Ohio awaiting his visit. He still has 4 provinces in Canada to claim but only 186 countries to go.
His preference in caches, per his profile, are those easy traditionals on flat ground, although he claims kayaking and biking are more fun. He seems to prefer Ohio as his target area, but, since he lives here, that only makes some sense..
As was mentioned, he likes numbers. As a matter of fact, he seems to like to buck the odds. It seems he will often point out the cache location for someone else to find. At least that has been my experience with him. According to him, if there is a 50% even chance of him finding the cache, 90% of the 10% odds he will select incorrectly 60% of the time.
He does have almost 400 5-terrain caches under his belt. Not all of them required stilts, which is a good thing. Having completed his 81-Grid, he can attest to having to experienced just about everything, including a broken bone, although that was an elective, not a requirement.
We will celebrate all the fun he has had at:
