En molo er et byggverk i sjøen til vern mot bølger og uvær. Dette vernet gir ly og havn for båter og kaier.
Moloen hvor cachen er plassert, er én av tre moloarmer på stedet Hasvik. Hasvik havn er kommunens innfallsport når det gjelder kommunikasjoner. Havnen er derfor både industrihavn og trafikkhavn.

Breakwaters are structures constructed on coasts as part of coastal defense or to protect an anchorage from the effects of both weather and longshore drift. The breakwater where the cache is placed, is one of three breakwater arms in Hasvik. Hasvik port is the municipality's gateway in terms of communications. The port is therefore for both industry and traffic .
