Geocache Description:

Welcome to the "Bend the Throttle" cache trail. There are 80 caches in the series, numbered 1 to 80, and placed into a geo art to form an aeroplane. The total trail from first to last cache is about 16km. Nice area for a picnic or overnight camping.

ACCESS:

There are two main entry points to the series from the Maleeha-Madam highway. Both way points are listed below. The first, brings you straight to the "TAIL" to this cache - Bend the Throttle 1. This is a sandy track, not suitable for 2WD. The second waypoint allows you to start the trail at the "NOSE" of the aeroplane. There are many tracks along this section that are good for 2WD that allow you to start at Bend the Throttle 44, the tip of the nose or any cache along that section. There is a gravel track running from Waypoint 2 right through the trail, passing by Bend the Throttle 35 & 17 at the right wing and Bend the Throttle 3, at the tail. I recommend this track for entry or exit. Most parts are drivable with a 2WD. Caches between Bend the Throttle 3 & 12 have sandy patches in between that are not suitable for 2WD.

SAFETY:

This is a caching paradise - no muggles around for miles. I have seen a few camel farms along the way and no people at all. That also means there is no help available if you get into trouble with a car break down or get stuck. I recommend the usual offroading precautions while coming here:

1. Tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back.

2. Mobile phones fully charged. My phone worked for when needed, I do not see a problem with connectivity, to call or connect to internet.

3. Carry enough water, refreshments.

4. Watch out for snakes, scopions. I did not see any but excercise care when you reach out for caches.

Your CACHE KIT:

Bring your caching essentials, especially TWEEZERS (you will need them for sure) and PEN. Many caches have pencil or pen but quite a few are too small to have one so bring your own pen. I would appreciate any help in maintaining the caches. If you see a problem with a cache and you cannot fix it, please let me know via your log or message. And as always, take away whatever you bring in, do not leave any trash.

THE TRAIL

This is a beautiful part of Sharjah, completely flat with few trees. I was surprised to note that there were hardly any stones to hide the caches in the usual UPOR way. Since the series was planned as a geoart, the coordinates were pre-planned and available features near GZ were picked to host caches. Caches are mostly "micro" and "small' but should be easy to find. Spoilers shall be added. My guess is that it should take 7-8 hours to cover the entire 80 caches, driving in a car to all the caches and 12-14 hours if you hike.  I am hoping all the caches and coordinates will be in order but shall look forward to feedback from cachers in their logs. Let me know if something is amiss. And ofcourse, please share you experience, I look forward to reading your logs and seeing your photos.
